UFC Fight Night Live: Shields vs. Ellenberger Predictions - Tom vs. Marty vs. Joe by Tom , Marty and Joe September 14, 2011  Alan "The Talent" Belcher (16-6) vs. Jason "The Athlete" McDonald (25-14) Tom: I like Belcher's all-around game over McDonald's ground game. Going with Belcher by Unanimous Decision. Marty: Belcher is an exciting fighter who will definitely "bring it". Belcher will outlast the aging McDonald. Belcher by unanimous decision. Joe: I'd go with Belcher 100%, but I'm concerned about rust after over a year out of the octagon. Still, he's a heck of a fighter. Belcher via Sub in round 3. Court "The Crusher" McGee (13-1) vs Dongi "The Ox" Yang (10-1) Tom: Yang is 1-1 in the UFC while McGee is 2-0. What the heck, we'll go with McGee via submission in Rnd. 2. Marty: Dongi has won the majority of his fights by TKO via strikes. McGee has had an impressive career thus far but hasn't fought in nearly a year. I'll go with Dongi via TKO in round 1. Joe: I'm impressed with McGee, but again, coming back from long injury concerns me, a little too much in this instance. I pick The Ox by TKO, round 1. Jonathan Brookins (12-3) vs Erik "New Breed" Koch (12-1) Tom: Koch's impressive KO of Raphael Assuncao in March makes him my favorite to win by Unanimous Decision. Marty: Jonathan Brookins was a man amongst boys during TUF. Erik Koch has definitely fought a better brand of competition with his time in the WEC. I will go with Koch via arm bar submission in round 2. Joe: I was impressed by Brookins on TUF, but been a while since he's seen action. On the other hand, Koch is tough dude. I'm going to say Brookins gets the UD, but I'm unsure whether to put a "period" or a "question mark" at the end of that prediction. Jake Shields (26-5-1) vs Jake "The Juggernaut" Ellenberger (24-5) Tom: The unfortunate recent passing of Shield's father will give him extra motivation to defeat Ellenberger. Shields gets the win by Unanimous Decision. Marty: I think that Shields will rebound from his embarrassing loss at the hands of GSP. Ellenberger will want to throw hands but I think this will be a typical Shields fight that does to the ground... and stays there. Shields by unanimous decision. Joe: A lot of this depends on Shields. The recent loss of his father could either motivate him or sap his energy. No disrespect to Shields, I just think he gets overwhelmed in this one. Ellenberger by TKO round 3.
