10 Quick Questions with Hector "Lightning" Lombard by Tom O'Brien August 31, 2011 
Hector "Lightning" Lombard's (29-2-1) list of accomplishments in Judo and MMA are second to none. The current Cage Fighting Championship and Bellator Fighting Championships Middleweight Champion is just over a few days away from
attempting to capture yet another championship title, and running his consecutive win streak to an impressive 23 fights
without a loss. With this important contest looming, one of the best fighters in the world was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions for us.1. For someone with 4th degree black belt in Judo you seem to prefer the striking aspect of MMA. How did you come to have such a lethal stand up game? Yes, I like to stand up better; most of my fights never make it to the ground. I like judo, that's the 1st martial art I trained in. But stand up seems to be what goes on in most of my fights. 2. Your only two losses came early in your career to Akihiro Gono and Gegard Mousasi, both via decision at the Pride Fighting Championships. Would you like an opportunity to face both these fighters again and avenge those losses? Yes, of course I tried many times to fight Gono in Australia but he keeps saying 'no', so i dont think it will happen. Moussasi fights for Strikeforce so i think eventually I will have to fight him; I would love that. 3. Your next contest is September 3 against Jesse Taylor for the inaugural Australian Fighting Championship Middleweight title. What would it mean to you to add this title to your trophy case? It would mean a lot to have 3 belts from 3 different organizations at the sametime.. who else has done that in MMA. 4. Who are some of the mixed martial artists you enjoy watching compete, and why? Frankie Edgar. I think he is one of the best technical fighters. 5. As a member of American Top Team, are there any up and coming ATT fighters MMA fans will be hearing from in the near future? ME! 6. You are as dominant an MMA fighter as anyone in the sport. What do you think about being compared to one of the most dominant boxers of all-time, Mike Tyson? I hate that. I hate when people compare me to him. We are different type of people, and he's a boxer, I'm everything. 7. A matchup against Nate Marquardt would be a huge fight for both of you. What are the possibilities of this fight happening in the near future? Nate is now fighting at 170. I tried to make that happen when he first got cut fom UFC, but he said 'no'. Now he's 170. I'm 185. 8. As stated in the opening paragraph, your list of competitive achievements are stellar. What achievement are you most proud of in your life? Winning my Bellator belts. 9.
